Part of the mission of FGATA is to inspire girls to be better and more caring members of their communities and citizens of the country. The immortal words of President John Kennedy, “And so my fellow Americans: Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country”, continue to echo through the decades, beckoning each of us to give back and do. More than ever, perhaps, there is an urgent need to support the country in positive and effective ways in the face of national and world realities. And there are endless varieties of ways that individuals can do so.
The From the Heart card program is one such way, and has already won the voluntary participation of high school girls at events we’ve done in support of the card program. Holiday events last year at Gabreski Air Base in Westhampton Beach, and at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, were two such opportunities in which girls from the community were happy to volunteer their time and abilities. And help indeed they did, in giving the children and families of soldiers serving our country happy and fun times. Their efforts also helped move the program and this organization forward in its very beginnings. Our endless gratitude to them, and to all the others that we know will be there for the worthwhile things we’re doing.
OUR VOLUNTEERS
Emily from Fontbonne Hall Academy, Brooklyn, NY
A very special volunteer, Emily did a great job interacting with the kids at an event we participated in at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. Our special thanks to Emily, and to Principal Sister Delores of Fontbonne, for their help and interest. (Emily, by the way, has offered to volunteer for future events - so much the spirit we look for and encourage at FGATA.)

Two volunteers from Westhampton High School assisted at an event at Gabreski Air Base were Adoree and Jackie – they did a wonderful job of interacting with the kids, and helped make the event a happy success. Our sincere thanks to them, and to Principal Kaswell and Pat Cardo, for their interest and support.
